Dental & Oral Health Faculty Development Programs

  • Dental Faculty Loan Repayment Program (DFLRP) 

    Increases the number of dental and dental hygiene faculty in the workforce by assisting dental and dental hygiene training programs to attract and retain full-time faculty through loan repayment.

  • Primary Care Dental Faculty Development Center Program (PCDFD)

    Establishes a national resource and training hub to strengthen primary care dental faculty development, leadership, and community-focused oral health initiatives.

Medical Education Programs

  • Medical School Education Program (MSE)

    Supports public medical schools in the top quartile of states with a projected primary care provider shortage to expand or support education for medical students preparing to become physicians.

Nursing Workforce Programs

  • Nurse Faculty Loan Program (NFLP)

    Provides low-interest loans and loan cancellation opportunities to increase the number of qualified nursing faculty nationwide.

  • Nursing Workforce Development (NWD)

    Increases nursing education opportunities for individuals from disadvantaged backgrounds.

Public Health Workforce Training Programs

  • Public Health Training Centers (PHTC) Program

    Increases the knowledge of the public health workforce through traineeships, specialized training and professional development in partnership with state and local health departments, community-based primary care providers, and related organizations (including non-traditional partners) to address public healthcare needs.​

Scholarships and Loan Support Programs

  • Scholarships for Disadvantaged Students (SDS)

    Grant for health professions schools to offer scholarships to students from disadvantaged backgrounds.

    Estimated Funding: $51.1 million. Expected Awards: 80 | Opportunity Number: HRSA-26-096

The Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) and its Bureau of Health Workforce (BHW) provide funding to support various health workforce activities, including training and education, partnerships with community-based organizations, and loan repayment for healthcare workers.
